Keeping Up on Oral Hygiene When You Have Braces

by | May 27, 2016 | Orthodontics

If you have braces, it’s best to keep your smile in tip-top shape by having a good oral hygiene routine. When you take great care of your teeth, you won’t need to worry about tooth decay, gum disease, or smile discoloration.

So, to help you keep your teeth clean and pristine on a regular basis, our Republic Dental team recommends doing the following things:

Brush: Brush your teeth after each meal and snack so you can remove the food particles that get stuck in your brackets and wires. It’s best to brush with a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste.

Floss: Floss your smile at least once a day with a flossing product of your choice. However, it might be easier to floss if you use a product that has strong ends so you can easily thread the floss through small spaces.

Rinse: Rinse your mouth daily with fluoride or antibacterial mouthwash. Doing so will deeply clean your smile, nourish and strengthen your teeth, and improve your breath.
