How to Help Your Child Like Visiting the Dentist

by | Nov 28, 2016 | Pediatric Dentistry

Many people are afraid of the dental office and everything that is associated with it. If you want to keep your child from becoming one of those people, there are some things you can do. Those things are:

-When you come into Republic Dental for a checkup, bring your child with you. This will help them get used to our office and dental team.

-Try not to use negative words when going to the dentist. The words to avoid are “hurt,” “needle,” “pain,” etc.

-Instead of playing “house” at home, play “dentist.” This will familiarize your child with a dental visit.

-Talk to your dentist, Dr. Espino, and ask [himher] how [heshe] explains dental treatments to children. The warm, comforting words will help you explain treatments to your child.

-When your child asks you questions about dental appointments and treatments, answer them honestly and sensitively.

Doing these things will help your child feel more calm, comfortable, and relaxed in the dental chair, even as they get older. This is a great way to increase their chances of having a positive dental experience.
